Our Ski Trip Photos and Videos

We have visited Hemsedal, Scandanavia's largest ski facilities which is similar to Alps. I tried with ski first time in my life, and enjoyed very much. We went there together with a group of students (Masters and PhD of UniK) and rented a nice and little bit high-tech cabin. For example, Coffee machine at the kitchen was pretty sophisticated, the cabin was fitted with hi-fi surround sound system + big plasma TV. But the shower (with some message functionality) was too complicated to run. Have a look at some pictures and short videos.

Two PhD positions available UNIK

How costly Oslo is?

Oslo was the costliest city in the world in 2006, even more than Tokyo. Lets see some example: As of today's newspaper (29.01.07), average price of a house (if you wanna buy one) per square meter cost 5400 USD (34000 NOK) in Oslo, only one ride (even it is about a km) to bus cost 4USD (25NOK), a single student (remember student) room with attached kitchen + toilet (my one) rents 500USD/month, If i want to go to Oslo from my city, Lilletsrøm 11 min travel of local train the up-down travel for one time cost about 12 USD.

We are in extreme cold

Last 3-4 days average temperature was around -10, and when i went to my working place in the morning it was around -15 to -18. It is terribly cold. Have to wear many clothes, the open part of the body like the face burns when i stay several minutes outside. It is not so horrible for me i can live still. Hope it will improve soon a bit.

Visit to Rome and Venice

Recently, we visited Rome and Venice from 10-17 Jan. You can find some of the pictures of our visit beside. Some videos are also there to watch. It was a hectic visit (Oslo-Rome Ciampino-Oslo; Rome Ciampino-Treviso-Rome Ciampino). Airport was always more than 1 hrs travel from where we stayed in Rome and Venice. So we always had to run for the plane, and arrived the airport just 30/40 min before departure. To make it worse, while returning Rome from Venice, in Treviso airport, Ryan Air flight was cancelled due to dense fog and we had to wait (walk, sit and eat somewhere in Treviso city) 12 hrs to take the next flight.

Skiing trip to Hemsedal

We (me and lopa) are going to skiing trip to Hemsedal about 240km from Lillestrøm, where we are living from Feb 2-4, 2007. This is the first time for both of us to skiing, so we have no experience of this sports so far. Please check out the website of Hemsedal:
